SPARTANBURG, S.C. --
The USC Upstate track and field team will end their outdoor regular season where it began, at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex in Charlotte, N.C.
Event Preview
A large contingent of Spartans will be competing in the two day meet to close out the regular season, with a handful making the trip to compete in Charlotte Friday. The vast majority will be competing all day Saturday.
Record breakers Channing Ferguson and Hayden Cobbs are slated to compete with a few differences this weekend. Cobbs will have an opportunity to break his own record in the 100m and will compete in the 200m again but will be one of the legs of the men's 4x100m relay team as well. Ferguson is scheduled to have the weekend off from the high jump and will instead turn his focus to the long jump.
Friday and Saturday's Meet
Like many of the outdoor meets scheduled for this time of the year, the Spartans are competing in the Charlotte Invitational for the third year in a row after a hiatus due to Covid-19.
Last season, the Spartans enjoyed plenty of success in the Charlotte Invitational as the team took home a combined 71 top-ten finishes across both the women's (37) and men's (34) teams. Their last time in Charlotte though was only a few weeks ago for the 49er Classic, where the Spartans took nine top-ten finishes and earned several placements in the top-ten performances in school history.
