SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Your Spartans are splitting the team for the first time this year as the USC Upstate track and field teams head to the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
Event Preview
A contingent of high-performing Spartans will be making the trip to Durham. Familiar track names like Rachel and Keyandre Davis, all three Fergusons and Hayden Cobbs will be competing against the loaded field, but there will be another Spartan making the trip.
Isabella Geraci, a former high jump standout in high school has joined the Spartan's roster and will be competing in the same event.
Kaleb Sok and Rachel Davis will both be looking to break their own records in the men's javelin and the women's discus respectively. Brooke Ferguson earned the familial bragging rights during the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational after taking two first-place finishes in the women's high jump and the 100m hurdles, but her sister Amber will be competing in both events this weekend as well.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's Meet
The Spartans haven't made the trip to Durham since the 2018-19 season. They were scheduled to compete in the meet for the 2020 outdoor season, but the Duke Invitational was cancelled due to Covid-19 that year.
Competition at Duke starts Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. with the women's hammer throw. Jessa Beach and Rachel Davis will be the first Spartans to see action for the meet.

The rest of the track and field team will start competition in the Newberry Hub City Invite Friday, April 7. The next time the Spartans will be together as a team will be for the USC Open April 22.
