SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On the road for the final time during the team's non-conference slate, USC Upstate men's basketball ventures to the state capital for a meeting with South Carolina, meeting the Gamecocks for the ninth time in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.). The Spartans and Gamecocks meet for the fourth straight season, the longest stretch of consecutive seasons matching up against one another in series history.

USC Upstate: Winning in consecutive weeks, freshman guard
Carmelo Adkins captured Big South Freshman of the Week honors as he paced Upstate with 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game last week. His second career conference weekly honor makes him the seventh different Spartan in the D1 era to win multiple Newcomer/Freshman of the Week awards, joining freshman guard
Mister Dean in accomplishing the feat this season. Adkins enters Saturday's game averaging 10.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
South Carolina: Coming off a 20-point outing against East Carolina, sophomore forward Collin Murray-Boyles owns a five-game double-figure scoring streak entering Saturday's contest. He leads the Gamecocks in scoring at 16.0 points per game, adding 9.4 rebounds per game as he averages a near double-double. He enters Saturday's game with two straight games recording a double-double, owning three this season.
