WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Spartans Track and Field team opened the 2024-2025 indoor season on a high note at the visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off, located at JDL Fast Track. The first indoor meet of the season treated the Spartans well, with 20 new personal bests and 18 different top-ten finishes.
On the women's side,
Rachel Davis placed fourth in shot put with a throw of 12.87m and third in weight throw with a toss of 17.67m. Freshman
Laurin Hannibal had an outstanding performance in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a jump of 10.91m. Hannibal's performance was a personal best and moved her to eighth all-time in school history.
Jessa Beach placed seventh in weight throw with her second attempt sailing 16.30m. Rounding out the field events,
Jenelda Aristhil placed eighth in weight throw with a new personal best of 16.19m, moving her to third all-time in school history.
Tiara Cox placed seventh in the 200m with a time of 26.68.
Paden Bell,
Maleah Cornelius, and
Carleigh Vaughn each set new personal bests.
For the men,
Elias Harrison placed third in the 600m. His time of 1:24.21 is now the school record.
Jeremiah Harris earned new personal bests in the 60m and 200m. Harris placed second in the 200m with a time of 22.20, putting him seventh all-time in school history. Jervaris Rice placed eighth in the 60m final with a time of 6.99, a new personal best.
Jamarcus Askew doubled up on personal bests, finishing third in the high jump at 1.99m and fifth in the triple jump at 13.94m. His performances move him to fifth all-time in school history for the high jump and sixth all-time in school history for the triple jump. Gabe Walker placed third in weight throw with an attempt of 16.51m.
Brycen Means finished sixth in the high jump at 1.89m, putting him ninth all-time in school history. Means also set personal bests in both the high jump and long jump. Finishing out throws,
Addison Stone placed eighth in weight throw with his attempt sailing 15.55m, a new personal best that places him tenth all-time in school history.
Andrew Bilderback set a new personal best in the long jump, finishing eighth at 6.66m. Bilderback is now eighth all-time in school history for this event.
Andrew Aun had a notable performance on the 60m hurdles, setting a new personal best of 9.92, smashing his previous PR of 11.34.
