In the Spartans' January meeting against Winthrop, Upstate was able to achieve a 52-51 comeback win that came down to the last few seconds. Dakota Reeves was the hero of the game as two made free throws decided the fate of the Spartans. Trinity Johnson led the Spartans' offense with 15 points while Jeni Levine was just behind her with 13 and Isabell West was close behind with 10 points.
Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Despite three Spartans scoring in double figures, Upstate fell short on the road against Charleston Southern on Wednesday night. AC Markham led the Spartans on offense and earned her fourth game of the season scoring in double figures with the 12 points she scored. Trinity Johnson assisted Markham on offense with 11 points for her 13th game of the season scoring in double figures. Johnson also had her 21st game of the season, leading the team in assists with four against the Bucs. Isabell West continues to lead the Spartans with 285 points, averaging 10.6 points per game, 181 rebounds, 16 assists, 26 steals, and 18 blocks.
Winthrop: The Eagles were led by Marissa Gasaway on offense in Winthrop's 62-40 loss to Presbyterian on Wednesday. Gasaway finished the game with 11 points, nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Jada Rice leads the Eagles' stats with 275 points, averaging 10.6 points per game, 87 rebounds, 63 assists, and 45 steals.
