CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Upstate track & field capped the outdoor regular season with a strong final meet in Charlotte, N.C. and earned one final Big South weekly honor as Kyonna Nixon was named Big South Female Athlete of the Week by the conference, as was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Kyonna Nixon earned her first Big South weekly honor of the season after securing a top-10 finish in the women;'s 100m hurdles with a time of 14.04. The seventh place finish was not only enough for a new personal record, but enough to ear her conference recognition.
Upstate track & field has now collected collected eight Big South weekly honors so far this outdoor season alone. Eastin Burch most recently eared Big South honors as he was named the Freshman of the Week following his record breaking performance in the men's javelin. Prior to that, Keyandre Davis and Jessa Beach earned Big South honors as the Spartans were both named Big South Athletes of the Week. Jayla Gilbert, Jordon Thornton, and Quinatvius James have all been named BIg South Freshmen of the Week this season for their competitive efforts. Davis earned his first Big South Athlete of the Week with his record breaking weight throw back in December.
