Upstate: The Spartans began the season against Elon on Sunday and will now cap their exhibitions for the 2024 season against the 49ers. Upstate returns 18 players, nine of which were key pieces in last year's semifinal run. 2023 Big South Offensive Player of the Year Dara Russo returns in hopes of another strong season after leading not only Upstate but the Big South in goals shots, shots per game, points, points per game, goals, and goals per game. Coach Saber also returns senior forward Nya Baccelli who was just behind Russo in all of the formerly mentioned categories, except shots per game. Paige Armstrong, Audrey Baer, and Margret Edda Bjarnadottir return to occupy Saber's midfield while Adrianna Pepe, Savannah Noll, Hailey Sapinoro, Emily Rangel and Catarina Dantas (formerly Bastos) all return to hold down the Spartans' backline.

Charlotte: The 49ers will begin their 2024 season with two exhibition matches against Big South opponents, starting with USC Upstate. Charlotte enters the 2024 season after going 9-7-4 overall, 4-3-2 in conference play. Head coach Brandi Fontaine returns both Payton Patrick and Macey Bader, both of which helped lead the 49ers' offense, as well as leading goal scorer, Tash Hudson. Starting goalkeeper, Emma Wakeman also returns for the 2024 campaign after collecting nine wins and allowing only 16 goals against for a .845 save percentage last season.

UP Next for the Spartans
Upstate will officially kick off the 2024 regular season with a three-game road stand, starting Aug. 15 against Queens University of Charlotte.
