CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the third straight week and the fifth time through six weeks of the 2025 season, USC Upstate volleyball's
Kamyla Vega David garnered Big South Conference Setter of the Week honors as the league announced its weekly winners Monday afternoon. The honor marks her seventh career Setter of the Week accolade and her 17
th all-time weekly honor.
Vega David, a native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, led all Big South setters and ranked 14
th in the NCAA in assists per set for the Week of Sep. 29 to Oct. 5, averaging 11.88 helpers per set—the lone league setter to average double-digit assists per set. Helping Upstate to an undefeated weekend, she passed out 55 assists in a five-set win over Presbyterian before adding 40 assists in a sweep of Charleston Southern. She added 13 digs against the Blue Hose, recording her 10
th double-double of the year.
Through matches played on Oct. 5, Vega David ranks third in the NCAA in total assists with 644 helpers distributed and ranks 12
th in the country in assists per set with a 10.56 mark. She also stands as the only NCAA setter with multiple instances of hitting the following statistical milestones: recording 40 or more assists in a three-set match, recording 50 or more assists in a four-set match, and recording 50 or more assists in a five-set match.
