CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time since joining the league and the first time as a program since 2004, USC Upstate volleyball has captured each of its conference's weekly awards, earning Big South Conference Player, Setter, Libero, and Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Ady O'Grady brings in Player of the Week honors,
Kamyla Vega David takes Setter of the Week honors, and
Sophia Overholt captures both Libero and Freshman of the Week honors.
O'Grady, a native of Hilton Head Island, S.C., totaled 28 kills and 35.5 points behind a .270 hitting efficiency, ranking fourth in the Big South in kills per set (3.50) and third in the Big South in points per set (4.44). She also contributed eight total blocks, averaging 1.00 blocks per set on the weekend. Against Gardner-Webb, O'Grady joined the Spartans' 1,000-Kill Club with her 12-kill performance before adding 16 terminations against Winthrop.
Hailing from Carolina, Puerto Rico, Vega David paced all Big South setters in total assists, passing out 93 at an average of 11.63 per set—a mark ranking second in the league last week. She also landed six service aces, leading the league in both total service aces and service aces per set (0.75). Distributing 40-plus assists in both contests last week, Vega David passed the 1,000-assist mark on the season, the first Big South setter to reach the mark in a season since 2022.
Overholt, a Tryon, N.C. native, led all Big South liberos in total digs and digs per set, scooping up 54 digs at an average of 6.75 per set. She began her week with 36 digs against Gardner-Webb, the most digs in a single match by a Big South player this season, before adding 18 digs versus Winthrop. Behind her 36-dig performance versus the Runnin' Bulldogs, Overholt set the program's single-season record for digs by a freshman, sitting with 440 digs on the year.
