CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coming off the league's first 30-plus point scoring effort of the 2025-26 season, USC Upstate women's basketball's
Cassie Gallagher, the reigning Big South Freshman of the Year, added another accolade to her career collection, earning her first career Big South Player of the Week honor.
A native of Cookeville, Tenn., Gallagher ranked second in the Big South in scoring last week, averaging 21.3 points per contest, scoring in double-figures in all three games. She led the league in three-pointers and three-point field goal percentage, hitting 10 triples and shooting 58.8 percent, respectively, while shooting 47.8 percent overall from the field. She capped the weekend with a career-high 35 points—one shy of the Upstate single-game record—versus Morehead State, adding to her 18 points versus South Carolina State and 11 points versus Marshall.
Gallagher is the fifth different Spartan and first since the 2023-24 campaign to capture Big South player of the Week honors since Upstate joined the league ahead of the 2018-19 campaign. She joins Isabella Geraci, Trinity Johnson, Riley Popplewell, and Isabell West in earning the honor.
