CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the women's soccer weekly awards this afternoon, with Upstate claiming both offensive and defensive player of the week.
Earning offensive player of the week for the first time this season was
Dara Russo. In the match against Furman, Russo was the lone goal scorer, netting both goals to help the match end in a 2-2 draw. She led the team in shots with four, all of them being on goal. This was her second career brace and fifth career multi-goal game. She also played the complete match, a new season high. Against VMI, Russo assisted on the insurance goal while putting up two shots.
Catarina Dantas earned defensive player of the week honors for the first time this season. Dantas played a complete match against Furman, tallying her first assist of the season on the match-tying goal. Against VMI, Dantas limited the VMI offense to just two shots on goal, not allowing the Keydets to earn a corner kick.
