SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team will be hitting the road once again this weekend as they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., this weekend to take on UT-Chattanooga and Belmont University.
USC Upstate (0-2) is coming off a pair of losses to in-state Southern Conference opponents Wofford and Furman a few weeks ago. In the opening match of the season the Spartans No. 1 doubles tandem of
Elin Hellberg and
Maria Jardim picked up a win against the Terriers No.1 tandem. Hellberg picked up a win in singles competition at the No. 2 slot and the Spartans hung around to pester Wofford for the majority of the afternoon.
The Spartans will face-off UT-Chattanooga on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Mocs are 2-0 on the season with wins over Union College (Ky.) and Austin Peay. USC Upstate will battle Belmont the following morning at 10:00 a.m. The Bruins are 2-1 this season with wins over Cumberland (Tenn.) and Western Carolina. Belmont's lone loss of the season came against fellow Big South foe Campbell.
