SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team will play a trio of teams this weekend at the USC Upstate tennis complex, beginning with Emmanuel College on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

USC Upstate (0-5) is coming off a difficult 4-3 loss to North Alabama last weekend. After losing the opening doubles point the match came down to the third set of the No. 1 singles match. Although the Spartans came up short as a team a trio of Spartans picked up wins at their respective flights.

Leon Roider has emerged as one of the Spartans top singles players this season. Playing primarily at the No. 2 flight Roider has gone 3-2 overall this season and 3-1 at the No. 1 singles court. Guilherme Diniz and Tom Russwurm also picked up their first wins of the season in singles action at the No. 4 and No. 6 singles flights.

The Spartans first opponent will be Emmanuel College at 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The Lions are 4-4 overall on the season and they are coming off a 7-0 sweep over Oxford College last Saturday. The Spartans second match of the weekend will feature fellow Palmetto State school North Greenville University. The Crusaders are 1-3 this season and they have not played since a 7-0 loss to Furman on February 8th. In the final match of the weekend USC Upstate will battle Chattanooga, the Mocs are 9-2 on the season and they are coming off a win against Young-Harris on February 15th.
