SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate softball team will host S.C. State on Saturday afternoon in conjunction with their alumni weekend festivities at Cyrill Stadium.
 
USC Upstate (14-6) is coming off a pair of midweek losses to Duke on Wednesday evening. The Spartans are 12-1 at Cyrill Stadium this season and over the past two seasons the Spartans are 39-2 in front of the hometown faithful. It's been nearly two weeks since the Spartans last played at home, when they walked off the field with a pair of wins over Virginia and Tennessee Tech.
 
The Spartans are 4-0 all-time against S.C. State (0-8) and this will be the first meeting between the two squads in four years. The Bulldogs last made the trip up to Spartanburg in 2016 and 2014, in both seasons the Spartans sent S.C. State home with a pair of losses. In the 2016 double header USC Upstate defeated S.C. State by a combined score of 24-0.
 
Offensively this season Savannah Grigsby (Elgin, S.C.) leads the team in several categories this season, including batting average (.371), RBI's (18) and she is tied for the lead in total hits (23). Freshman Tiffany Domingue (York, S.C.) is second on the team in batting average (.365) but leads the team doubles (5) and homeruns (2). York is tied for the team lead in total hits (23) and she is second on the team in runs scored (12).
 
In the circle Celina Sullivan and Erin Hill have been the go-to options for the Spartans with 23 appearances and 14 starts between the two seniors. Out of the teams 128 strikeouts this season, Hill and Sullivan have accounted for 89 punch outs. Sullivan leads the team with a 1.63 era and Hill is right behind with a 2.49 era.
 
First pitch will be at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon at Cyrill Stadium.
