Series History
This is the fourth all-time meeting between Upstate and Hampton. The Spartans will be looking for their first-ever win against the Pirates as Hampton leads the series 3-0, dating back to Jan. 29, 2019. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, former Spartan standout Riley Popplewell surpassed the 700 career rebounds milestone in the first half of the game on Feb. 18, 2020. Upstate went on to lose 86-73 on home court as Hampton put up a 61-point effort in the second half.

Ones to Watch
Upstate – Molly Coleman is averaging 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Spartans. She put up 12 points on Saturday against Presbyterian, and was once again on the brink of a double-double the following day with nine points and nine rebounds. Dakota McCaughan led the offense with three triples and 13 points against Presbyterian on Sunday in addition to five assists and a steal.
Hampton – Through just six games so far this season, Nylah Young is Hampton's leading scorer and rebounder. She ranks eighth in the conference in scoring average (12.3ppg) and 13th in rebounding average (6.0rpg). Victoria Mason leads the Pirates in steals and assists, ranking fourth in the Big South with 2.2 steals per game and seventh with 2.5 assists per game.

The Spartans continue on the road next weekend with a trip to Gardner-Webb. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23.
