Series History
USC Upstate leads the all-time series against Longwood 9-6, dating back to the first meeting between the two teams in 1980. Since Upstate joined the DI ranks, however, the series is tied 3-3. The Spartans took the first three meetings of their DI era, but have since dropped the last three straight games against the Lancers. Most recently, Longwood swept the season series last year despite Barrett Herring's first career double-double in the 70-62 loss on Jan. 11, 2020 and a 20+ point effort by Brianna Lewis in the 69-56 loss on March 4, 2020.

Ones to Watch
Upstate – Freshman McKinley Brooks-Sumpter continues to lead the Spartan offense this season with 15.0 points per game, fourth-best in the Big South. She notched her second career double-double with a career-high 24 points and 10 boards in game one against High Point on Dec. 30, and put up double-digits in game two on Dec. 31. She has scored in double-figures in every appearance for the Spartans this season. She also ranks in the top-10 on the glass in the Big South, pulling down a conference seventh-best 7.4 boards per game.
Longwood – Four Lancers are averaging double-figures in scoring this season, led by Kyla McMakin who ranks second in the Big South with 18.1 points per game. Akila Smith leads the conference in rebounds per game with 12.0.

Upstate returns to the Hodge this weekend to host Presbyterian College in a back-to-back Big South Conference series. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10.
