SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's golf team is back in action this weekend with a home one day tournament this Sunday at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Spartans are coming off their best tournament finish of the season at the UNCW Seahawk Invite this past week. Senior
Hunter Fry (Dacula, Ga.) won the tournament with an overall score of 207 (-9) and earned Big South Golfer of the Week in the process. Fry defeated a pair of top-25 individuals in the process. The Peach State native tied for the tournament lead in Par 3 scoring (-3) and was second in Par 5 scoring (-7). The senior also, recorded an Eagle and a team best 13 birdies in the tournament.
Freshman golfer
Max Dupree (Eatonton, Ga.) shot a 75 in the final round of the Seahawk Invite to finish tied for 22
nd overall. ,
Jackson Lyons (Suffolk, Va.) recorded a tournament low 74 to finish 49
th overall in the event. Both Dupree and Lyons shared the team lead for total pars with 37 in the event.
Parker Lewis (Inman, S.C.) carded a 79 in the final round to finish tied for 57
th.
Zander Briggs (Simpsonville, S.C.) recorded a final round score of 86 and
Parker Fain (Boiling Springs, S.C.) registered an 84 to finish 65
th overall.
Jmike Flintom (St. Matthews, S.C.),
El Kluaymaingarm (Samut Prakan, Thailand),
Sam Merrell (Greer, S.C.) and
Panop Norasing (Bangkok, Thailand) will also be participating in the one day event this weekend for the Spartans.
