SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate head men's basketball coach
Dave Dickerson announced the signing of Jalen Breazeale out of Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C., this afternoon.
Breazeale is the reigning 5A South Carolina State Player of the Year out of Dorman High School. Breazeale excelled both on the court and in the classroom, where he accumulated a 4.5 Grade Point Average (GPA).
"Jalen [Breazeale] comes from a wonderful support system, led by his parents, Christy and Clay," Dickerson said. "He's a high character young man that has great values, has a hunger to get better as a person, as a student and as a player. He comes from one of the best high school programs in the country, Dorman High School, which is led by coach Thomas Ryan."
Dorman has won four out of the last five 5A titles in South Carolina. Breazeale put together a stellar senior season, averaging 16 points per game and five assists per contest. The Palmetto State native also shot 54 percent from the field, 44 percent from beyond the arch and 80 percent from the free throw line.
"His basketball IQ, toughness, and leadership skills will be welcomed and he's going to be fun to coach," Dickerson said.
