CHARLESTON, S.C. – Facing what may be the team's toughest tournament field of the season, USC Upstate men's golf concluded play at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate Tuesday. The event featured seven teams ranked in the Golfstat top-100, including the event champion Mississippi State who ranks 23
rd.
Against the tough field, senior Brady Hinkle parred 38 of the 54 holes in competition to rank fourth in the 103-player field in the category on the tough Daniel Island Club course. He fashioned scores of 78-79-79-236 at the event as he and senior Zander Briggs who carded marks of 81-75-80-236 led the Spartans at the event, tying for 74
th.
Behind a final round 76, freshman Elias Becker posted Upstate's lowest individual round of the tournament's third round as he rounded out the team's top-three scorers, tying for 87
th after posting scores of 82-82-76-240.
As a team, the Spartans shaved an average of 12 strokes from its first-round team score as the three days of play at the Daniel Island Collegiate wound down. Upstate wrote in scores of 326-313-315-954, finishing 18
th.
