Series History
In a series featuring a majority of the games played while Big South Conference foes, USC Upstate and Winthrop are meeting for the ninth time in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.) Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans lead the overall series 5-3 as the two programs split a pair of meetings last season in a doubleheader at Winthrop. Tuesday's game also marks the fifth straight in the series at Winthrop with Upstate 4-2 overall in Rock Hill.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Coming back into play following an under-the-basket inbound, freshman guard Rachael Rose's putback attempt with 1.8 seconds remaining lifted Upstate to a 60-58 victory at Hampton last Saturday. Her final rebound secured her second career double-double as she finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Scoring in double-figures in each of her three games last week, she earned her sixth Big South Freshman of the Week honor and second in as many weeks.
 
Winthrop: Scoring 15 points against High Point Saturday, forward Sierra Hunter marked the lone Eagle to reach double-figures in the game, shooting 60 percent from the field in the process. On the season, she enters averaging 8.4 points per game while leading Winthrop on the glass, corralling 6.5 boards per contest.
 
UP Next for the Spartans
Off Tuesday's contest, neither Upstate nor Winthrop sees much of a layoff as the two teams return to the court against one another Wednesday night at the G.B. Hodge Center. Wednesday's game features a 6 p.m. ET tip and airs on ESPN3.
