How It Happened
First Quarter

- Throughout the quarter, only twice—both by Hampton—did a team make consecutive baskets as both occasions stood as 4-0 scoring runs. Hampton's second 4-0 scoring stretch created a four-point lead, marking its largest of the game before a Molly Coleman free throw trimmed said lead to three heading into the quarter break.
Second Quarter

- Following a Pirate free throw to tie the game, the Spartans used their longest run of the game to build its biggest lead, taking a 23-16 advantage with 4:37 to play in the half. Watson spurred the run, scoring five of its seven points while reaching double figures in the process.
- Scoring the final four points of the half, Hampton trimmed Upstate advantage to three heading into the halftime locker room.
Third Quarter
- Scoring the first eight points of the half for Upstate, Watson went toe-to-toe with Hampton to maintain Upstate's advantage into the latter half of the quarter. She answered a 5-0 Pirate run during the stretch with a 4-0 run of her own to close a 9-8 scoring stretch for the Pirates.
- Fighting back to take the lead, Hampton used a 6-0 run to take a 39-36 lead with 2:33 remaining in the quarter. The Spartans answered to reclaim the lead with a 4-0 scoring run before Hampton finished the quarter scoring the final three points to stake a two-point lead.
Fourth Quarter
- Taking back the lead, Upstate opened the fourth quarter outscoring Hampton 6-2 over the quarter's first four minutes. Hampton countered with a 4-0 scoring spurt to pull back ahead and set up a period of back-and-forth scoring over the game's next two-and-a-half minutes.
- Entering the final two minutes trailing 53-52, the Spartans outscored the Pirates 8-5 to close the game. Watson and Rachael Rose produced the eight Spartan points with Rose scoring five points, including the game-winning two, to reach double-figures for the game.
