WILMINGTON, N.C. – Battling a tournament field that featured six teams in the top 100 of the latest GolfStat rankings and fighting inclement weather that postponed part of the event's second round, USC Upstate men's golf concluded the Seahawk Intercollegiate Monday afternoon.
 
For the third straight event, the Spartans carded a sub-290 team round, opening the Seahawk Intercollegiate with a 287, tied for the third-lowest round of the season for the Spartans and the second-lowest of the spring season. Rain and wind toughened conditions at the Country Club of Landfall following the first round as Upstate turned in team marks of 287-304-313-904 to place 16^th in the field.
 
Senior Brady Hinkle earned the Spartans a top-30 finisher for the fourth time this spring—earning one or more such finishers in each spring tournament—as he tied for 28^th on the final leaderboard. He fashioned scores of 68-74-73-215, tying his second-lowest 54-hole total of the season. His opening-round 68 tied for the lowest round of his career, his third round turned in at 68 this season and the lowest for the Spartans at the event.
 
Behind Hinkle on the leaderboard, junior Zander Briggs carded scores of 71-73-81-225, tying for 65^th and finishing second among Spartans at the Seahawk Intercollegiate. His opening-round 71 tied his career-low round and marked his lowest 18-hole total of the season.

• With his opening-round 68, Brady Hinkle tied his career-low round, doing so for the third time this season. On the year, he owns five sub-70 rounds.
