With Two Road Games Remaining, Upstate Women's Basketball heads to Charleston on Wendesday Night to Take on the Buccaneers

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The USC Upstate women's basketball program begins its week with its second to last away game against Charleston Southern on Wednesday night before celebrating senior day on Saturday afternoon with the final home contest against Winthrop.

First Time This Season 

In the Spartans' January meeting against Charleston Southern, Upstate was able to fend off the Buccaneers in a 59-58 finish at home for their third Big South win of the season. Rebekah Gordon led the team on offense with 16 points for her seventh game of the season scoring in double figures as well as tied her season high for rebounds (8) and had career-high four steals. The Spartans continued their win streak against the Bucs as Upstate hasn't lost to Charleston Southern since Jan. 22, 2021 (55-53).    

Players to Watch 
USC Upstate: The Spartans were led to their 73-56 victory over Gardner-Webb by Rebekah Gordon who had 18 points on Saturday after going 5-11 from the field, 2-3 from the three-point arc, and 6-10 from the free throw line. Along with her season-high 18 points, Gordon also had eight rebounds, one assist, and one block. Gordon sits third in the Spartans scoring arsenal with 234 points, averaging 9.0 points per game, just behind Trinity Johnson with 249 points and Isabell West with 275 points.  

Charleston Southern: The Bucs were led by Shimei Muhammad in their 68-63 overtime loss to UNC Asheville. Muhammad had a season-high 18 points against the Bulldogs along with season-highs for field goals made (5), field goals attempted (10), three-point field goals made (3), free throws made (5), and free throws attempted (6). Charleston Southern continues to be led on offense by Catherine Alben with 369 points, averaging 14.8 points per game, 99 rebounds, 50 assists, 41 steals, and two blocks.
