ATLANTA, Ga. – On the road for its penultimate midweek contest, USC Upstate baseball used an all-around game to secure a 9-4 victory Wednesday evening at Georgia State. The win extended the Spartans' winning streak over the Panthers to six, taking each meeting in the series.
Five Spartan pitchers combined to limit the Panthers to four runs and six hits with junior right-handed pitcher
Juan Reyes tossing a career-long 4.0 innings in his second start of the season. Senior right-hander
Kyle Beaty picked up his fourth win of the year with 2.0 innings of work while redshirt sophomore righty
Max Bianchini earned the save, his first of the year, behind 1.1 innings of no-hit baseball.
Backing the team's pitching performance, five hitters notched an RBI for the Spartans headed by a pair of RBI from redshirt freshman leftfielder
Henry Zenor, part of a 3-for-4 evening. Junior second baseman
Gage Griggs, junior catcher
Preston Lucas, and sophomore shortstop
Vance Sheahan joined Zenor with multi-hit efforts.

How It Happened
- T1: Following a leadoff double from Henry Zenor and a walk issued to Johnny Sweeney, Scott Newman went back through the box with his RBI single, opening the day's scoring in favor of Upstate.
- B1: Answering the Spartans, Georgia State got its run back and took the lead for the first time behind a two-run homer to center from Jesse Donohoe.
- T2: Providing their response, the Spartans regained the lead behind a pair of second-inning tallies. Jake Armsey with a double to rightfield tied the game before a Zenor sac fly broke the deadlock.
- T4: Taking advantage of a Panther throwing error on a dropped third strike, Zenor raced home from third as the ball careened down the line in foul ground behind first.
- T6: Adding to the Spartans' advantage, Sweeney dropped an RBI double into shallow left with Scott Campbell coming home to score.
- B6: Cutting into the Upstate lead, Georgia State used a sac fly from Jae Williams to push a run across in the frame.
- T9: Extending their advantage, the Spartans tallied four runs in the final frame, seeing RBI from Gage Griggs, Zenor, and Sheahan in the inning. The final tally crossed via a wild pitch from the Panthers.
- B9: Using a sacrifice fly from Michael McGinnis, Georgia State closed the game's scoring with a run in the ninth.
Notable
- Hitting an RBI double Wednesday, Johnny Sweeney collected his 77th RBI of the year, closing to within one of the program's single-season RBI record.
- Swiping a bag against the Panthers, Vance Sheahan registered his 24th stolen base of the season, moving him to within one of the program's Division I era (2007-pres.) single-season record.
