SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team will play their first home matches of the season this coming weekend when they host North Greenville and Charlotte on Saturday afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
USC Upstate (0-6) has gotten off to a bit of a slow start at the beginning of the season, playing against very talented opponents. In their most recent loss the Spartans fell to North Alabama 5-2, with
Maria Jardim and
Morgan Valentine each picking up their first wins of the season in singles action.
Both
Gabriela Cevallos and
Elin Hellberg will be looking to get back in the win column, while
Roberta Armani and
Laura Illanes will be looking to pick up their first wins of the season. The Spartans top double team of Jardim and Hellberg will be looking to pick up their third win of the season on Saturday afternoon.
North Greenville is 1-2 on the season and will be playing in their first spring match of the 2020 campaign against USC Upstate on Saturday morning. Charlotte enters Saturday's matchup with a 7-3 overall record and a 5-1 record against schools from the Palmetto State. The 49ers are coming off a 4-0 loss to No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.
