SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate softball team is slated to play a double-header against Stetson University on Wednesday afternoon in DeLand, Fla.
USC Upstate (16-6) is coming off a double header sweep of South Carolina State on Saturday afternoon at Cyrill Stadium. The Spartans are comfortable in their home ballpark with 14-1 record, on the road, however, USC Upstate is just 1-3 with the lone win coming against Coastal Carolina.
This is the 29
th all-time meeting between the two former ASUN rivals with USC Upstate holding a commanding 20-8 advantage in the all-time series. USC Upstate and Stetson (11-14) last met in the opening round of the 2018 ASUN Tournament, as the Spartans picked-up a 9-2 victory over the Hatters. USC Upstate's Logan
Morris hit two homeruns as went 3-for-4 at the plate with 6 RBI's in the game to lead the Spartans to victory. 
Christina Biggerstaff picked up her 16
th win of the season, throwing four shutout innings.
The last time USC Upstate ventured down to play Stetson the Spartans walked away with a double-header sweep of the Hatters. USC Upstate has won the past six meetings between the schools and eight of the past 10 dating back to the 2016 campaign.
Freshman 
Tiffany Domingue and sophomore 
Savannah Grigsby currently lead the team with a .382 batting average, and both players are tied for the lead in total hits (26) and RBI's (20). Reigning Big South Freshman of the Week 
Peyton Darnell is third on the team in batting average .379 and is coming off a monster week for the Spartans offensively. Leadoff hitter 
Sarah Price is currently third in the conference in stolen bases with 15 swipes on the season.
Celina Sullivan and 
Erin Hill anchor a pitching unit that is one of the top in the Big South Conference. Sullivan and Hill have both pitched more than 40 innings this season. Sullivan leads the team in strikeouts with 49 on the season and Hill is right behind with 42 strikeouts. Hill and 
Mallie Brown are tied for the team lead in wins with five each on the season.
Stetson is coming off a 3-2 victory over Fairfield in the Hatter Classic this past weekend. The Hatters went 3-2 in the tournament with losses to Sacred Heart and Northern Kentucky. Stetson is 8-8 at home this season and they have yet to venture outside of the Sunshine State.
Offensively the Hatters are led by Lizzie Shubert who is batting .309 for the season, with a team high 25 hits. Shubert also leads the team in doubles (7), homeruns (4) RBI's (22) and total bases (44). Riley Russell will be one to watch on the base paths as she has stolen 16 bags on 18 opportunities this season. The Hatters go to pitcher this season is Chloe Temples who has a team best 2.08 era. Temples is 9-6 overall on the season with 13 complete games and a pair of shutouts in 101.0 innings pitched. Temples has struck out 77 batters this season and opponents are hitting just .210 against her.
