Kemboi was a member of both the USC Upstate Cross Country and Track and Field programs from 2009-2013. This past summer Kemboi was named to the ASUN All-Decade team for both Cross Country and Track & Field. In Cross Country, Kemboi was a three-time ASUN Individual Champion and earned Runner of the Year honors from 2010-2012. The native of Kenya also took home Freshman of the Year honors in 2009 and was a member of two team championships in 2011 and 2012. Kemboi, was a two time All-Southeast Region selection and finished 42nd at the 2012 NCAA Nationals, which is still the highest and fastest finish by an ASUN athlete. Kemboi holds the school records for fastest 8K (23: 22.28) and 10K (29.47.31).
 
On the Track, Kemboi continued his dominance as he captured 11 ASUN Championships in a four year span (6x 5000m, 3x 3000m, 2x 10,000m). In 2012 and 2013, Kemboi was named the ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Most Outstanding Track Performer. In 2010, Kemboi took home ASUN Most Outstanding Freshman Performer. In back-to-back seasons, Kemboi finished inside the top-20 in the 10,000m event at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. Kemboi currently holds the ASUN Record in the 8K (24:00.81) and his 2012 Championship in the 10,000m was the second fastest in ASUN meet history. Kemboi is the only runner in USC Upstate history to be both a four-time champion (5000m) and a three-time champion (3000m). In 2013 he finished runner-up in the Mile run and in 2011 he finished runner-up in the 3000m event. Kemboi holds the ASUN record for Indoor Track Athlete of the Week selections with 10 and he finished his career with a total of 16 in both Indoor and Outdoor. Kemboi is the USC Upstate record holder in the 3000m (8:20.05), Indoor 5000m (14:23.19), Outdoor 5000m (14:09.86) and the 10,000m (29:15.69). Kemboi is second All-Time in career points (126), third All-Time in the Mile run (4:17.94) and fourth All-Time in the 1500m (3:58.02).
