Widely regarded as one of the top baseball facilities in the Southeast, Cleveland S. Harley Baseball Park has been home to USC Upstate baseball since its 2004 opening. Named for local philanthropist and businessman Cleveland S. Harley, Harley Park has helped shape a strong and intimidating home-field identity for the Spartans and remains a key part of the program’s rapid growth.
The facility includes a 500-seat stadium, a full press box, a practice infield and a dedicated hitting facility with three batting cages. Recent enhancements have included upgrades to the batting cages funded by an anonymous donor, along with minor improvements to the dugouts. Looking ahead, USC Upstate’s strategic plan, “Elevate Upstate,” also includes further renovations to Harley Park as the University continues to invest in the future of Spartan baseball.
The park is named in honor of Cleveland S. Harley, a longtime supporter of the University and an original member of the Spartanburg County Commission of Higher Education, the group that founded the institution. Mr. Harley and his family have played an instrumental role in the University's growth, particularly in USC Upstate Athletics.
USC Upstate opened Cleveland S. Harley Baseball Park on Feb. 1, 2004, sweeping Tusculum in a doubleheader. Since then, the Spartans have made Harley Park a difficult place to play, compiling a 377-287 home record. Since the facility’s inception, the program has also amassed nearly 600 victories, with Harley Park serving as the backdrop for many of its biggest moments.
Among those milestones, Upstate earned its 100th win at Harley Park with a 10-3 victory over Charleston Southern on May 7, 2009. The Spartans recorded their 150th home win with a 9-3 victory over George Washington on Feb. 24, 2013, their 200th with a 6-3 win over La Salle on March 10, 2017, their 250th with an 11-7 win over Charleston Southern on April 2, 2019, their 300th with a 13-8 victory over Charleston Southern on April 15, 2022 and their 350th with another win over Charleston Southern in 2024.
Harley Park has also hosted some of the program’s most notable wins against top competition. The Spartans have earned home victories over ranked opponents and power programs, including a historic 8-6 comeback win over Kentucky on Feb. 17, 2014, marking the program’s first-ever home win over an SEC opponent. Other notable victories at Harley Park include a 2020 win over Northwestern Cincinnati (2022), and, in 2025, a 5-4 win over then-No. 19 Troy, and Boston College.
