G.B. Hodge Center 2026

Named for one of the University’s founders, Dr. G.B. Hodge, the G.B. Hodge Center has served as the home of USC Upstate men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball since opening in 1973. The Hodge Center has grown into one of the most recognizable venues on campus and a true home-court advantage for Upstate.
Over the years, the facility has undergone significant upgrades and renovations to enhance both the student-athlete experience and the overall game-day atmosphere. The Hodge Center now features new seating, updated lighting, video boards, a new roof, fresh paint, renovated floors, an upgraded wood playing surface, and updated Spartan branding and design throughout. Additional improvements include modern locker rooms for basketball and volleyball, the Spartan Performance Center, athletic training areas and a state-of-the-art video control room.
The bottom floor houses the Athletics Department, including offices for athletic administration and coaches, while the facility also supports student-athletes through its performance and training spaces.
The Spartans have celebrated plenty of success inside the Hodge Center over the years. Men’s basketball won the 1982 NAIA National Championship, along with three NAIA District Six titles and five Peach Belt Conference championships.
Women’s basketball captured three straight Peach Belt Conference titles from 1993-95, while volleyball won three consecutive NAIA District Six titles from 1987-89 and advanced to the national tournament each season. The volleyball program also claimed three straight Peach Belt Conference championships from 1993-95.
The Hodge Center has also received national recognition for its atmosphere and fan experience. Stadium Journey Magazine ranked the arena 15th among Division I college basketball venues for atmosphere and experience, placing it ahead of several nationally known arenas.
