Hall of Fame
Kenny Sugishita is the first member of the men’s track and field team to be inducted into the USC Upstate Athletics Hall of Fame.
Originally from Arroyo Grande, Calif. Sugishita was on the USC Upstate Track & Field Team from 2011-2013.
In 2012, Sugishita was a NCAA First Round Qualifier and he currently holds the school record for shot put (Indoor & Outdoor), hammer throw
(outdoor) and discus (outdoor). Sugishita swept the ASUN Most Outstanding Field Performer Award at both the Indoor and Outdoor Championships during the 2012 season.
Sugishita is a three-time ASUN shot put champion and he won the discus, hammer throw and weight throw championships during the 2012 season.
Sugishita ranks fourth All-Time in the ASUN Discus Event, fifth All-Time in the ASUN Outdoor Shot Put Event, sixth All-Time in the ASUN Hammer
Throw Event and 13th All-time in the ASUN Indoor Shot Put Event.
Sugishita finished runner-up in the 2011 ASUN shot put event, as well as the 2013 ASUN discus and hammer events. Sugishita finished third in
the 2011 weight throw event. In 2013, he came in third place in both the ASUN shot put and ASUN weight throw events. Sugishita was a seven-time
ASUN athlete of the week.
