SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Freshman Sandra Campbell (Orlando, Fla./Pilot Point (Texas)) posted nine kills and freshman Megan Healey (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) added 17 digs, but it wasn't enough for the USC Upstate volleyball team on Thursday night at the Hodge Center, as East Tennessee State took a 3-0 (30-16, 30-19, 30-21) in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
Desiree Dyck and Callie Kiselich each posted 13 kills for the Lady Bucs (13-9 overall, 4-1 A-Sun) and Lauren Baufield added four kills and 16 digs. Marissa Mortensen posted 42 assists.
The Spartans (6-12 overall, 0-5 A-Sun) got six kills each from junior Jovana Lubura (Beograd, Serbia/New Mexico Military Institute) and sophomore Jesicah Ambrisco (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina Catholic) and sophomore Morgan Bucciferro (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community) added 15 assists.
Five kills from Kiselich and a .286 team hitting percentage led the Lady Bucs to the first game win, 30-16, and a .486 hitting percentage lifted them to a 30-19 second game win. Dyck had seven kills in the second game. In the final game, Baufield posted eight digs and four kills to lead ETSU to their fourth A-Sun win.
A power outage on the USC Upstate campus delayed the match for an hour and a half.
Upstate travels to Atlantic Sun foe Florida Gulf Coast for their next match, on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
