Spartanburg, S.C. - Several USC Upstate softball signees have received individual accolades following the spring season as the group gets set to join the returning players in August when school starts up for the 2007-08 academic year.
Morgan Childers and Courtney Feldon were the latest signees to receive honors. The duo received high praise by the North Carolina Fastpitch Coaches Association (NCFCA). Childers was named the Western North Carolina 3A Pitcher of the Year after leading King Mountain High School to a second-place finish in the 3A State Tournament. The latest honor comes on the heels of the highly-touted hurler earning Player of the Year honors from the Gaston Gazette and being named the Powerade Player of the Year. She also was an All-State, All-District, and All-Conference selection and was named the conference Player of the Year. She was named the Charlotte Observer's Piedmont Player of the Year, earned District Pitcher of the Year honors, and was named the team Most Valuable Player.
Feldon was named the Western North Carolina 2A Player of the Year by the NCFCA after a standout season at North Lincoln High School. She received her fourth All-State selection and was named the District Player of the Year after hitting .517 with six home runs, 12 doubles, 43 runs scored, and 24 RBIs. She was an All-Conference and All-District selection as well.
