
Novo Named ITA All-American

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - USC Upstate women's tennis player Anna Novo has been named a Division II All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Novo, a sophomore from Caracas, Venezuela, earned her second straight All-America honor after leading Upstate to a second-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference and a No. 7 final national ranking. Novo finished the year with a 22-4 singles record playing at the No. 1 position. She was 10-1 in Peach Belt Conference play, losing only to the No. 1-ranked player in the nation. She finished the year ranked No. 11 in the country. Novo helped lead Upstate to a third straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals. She spurred the Spartans to two victories in the regionals to advance to the NCAA Nationals for the first time in program history.
Novo earned All-America honors last year after finishing the season with an 11-7 record at No. 1 singles and also earned Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors. She is a combined 33-11 in singles play over her two seasons.
