Greenville, S.C. - USC Upstate's Audrey Church shot a solid two-round 75-76=151 total to finish tied for second after regulation play at the Greenville County Women's Amateur Championship played Monday and Tuesday at Carolina Springs Golf Club. The junior from Taylors finished fourth during the playoff for second place.
Church and the rest of the amateur field chased winner Lea Venable throughout the tournament. Venable finished with a 71-71=142 total to win by nine strokes over Church, Charleston Southern's Madison Jeter, and Riverside High School's Haley Stephens. It was the second Greenville Amateur crown in four years for Venable.
Church, Jeter, and Stephens each finished with 151 totals and headed to a playoff to determine second, third, and fourth places in the tournament. Church bogeyed her first playoff hole to finish fourth. Jeter birdied the second playoff hole to take second place while Stephens settled for third.
Church played in six events for the Spartans last year, claiming three Top 20 individual finishes. She finished 17th to help lead the Spartans to the team championship at the Anderson Invitational last fall. She claimed a ninth-place finish in the Lady Bear Invitational this past spring.
