WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The USC Upstate women's tennis team opened play at the ITA Southeast Regionals on Wednesday afternoon at Wake Forest University's Indoor Tennis Center. Sophomore Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) fell in her prequalifying match to North Carolina's Haley Hemm, 6-4, 6-2.
The Spartans will be back in action on Thursday at the regionals, with senior Daniela Lovera (Caracas, Venezuela/Santa Rosa de Lima) beginning play in the qualifying draw. Lovera will face the winner of one of the four prequalifying draws in the first round and will need to win one more match to advance to Friday's main draw.

Novo, ranked 124th in the nation, will begin play on Friday in the singles main draw.
