
Spartans Finish Second Day At ITA Southeast Regionals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The USC Upstate women's tennis team continued its play at the ITA Southeast Regionals on Thursday afternoon at Wake Forest University's Indoor Tennis Center.
In the qualifying singles draw, senior Daniela Lovera (Caracas, Venezuela/Santa Rosa de Lima) fell to Wake Forest's Ryann Curtilla, 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, sophomore Emilia Milovanovic (Paris, France/CNED) and senior Anna Novo (Caracas, Venezuela/El-Angel) fell to Elon's Anna Milian and Paige Kensrue, 8-2, in the opening round. Lovera and freshman Cinthya Lazaro (Lima, Peru/University of Lima) dropped an 8-2 decision to Charlotte's Ana Spivakovsky and Yudeshree Pillay.
Novo, ranked 124th in the nation, will begin play on Friday in the singles main draw. Novo faces Tennessee's Rosalia Alda in the opening round of 64. The winner of the match will face the winner of a match between ninth-seeded Austin Smith of North Carolina and Kentucky's Lauren Meier.
