
Church Finishes 4th At Greenville Ladies Amateur

Spartanburg, S.C. - USC Upstate rising senior women's golfer Audrey Church turned in a solid performance at the Greater Greenville Ladies Amateur Championship, taking fourth place in the tournament with a 4-over-par 148 two-round total.
Church, from Taylors, S.C., fired a 78 in the first round of the tournament played at the Pickens Country Club. She rallied with a 2-under 70 in the final round to take fourth place. Anna Martin and Lea Venable tied for top honors with an even-par 144 total and Martin won the title in a playoff. Louise Oxner finished third at 146. Church's 148 total was seven strokes better than fifth-place, held down by Debe Schwedler at 155.
Church finished second in the Greater Greenville Ladies Amateur Championship last summer. She has been a valuable member of the Upstate women's golf team for the last three seasons. She played in a career-high 19 rounds in eight tournaments last year and turned in a career-low 83.8 stroke average. She finished in the top 25 in three tournaments in 2007-08, Upstate first on the NCAA Division I level.
