
Spartans Stand 9th After 36 Holes At Sea Trail

Sunset Beach, N.C. - The USC Upstate women's golf team turned in a second round 323 and currently stands in ninth place out of 17 teams at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate Saturday afternoon.
Upstate is 30 shots back of tournament leader East Tennessee State, which leads the tournament with a 607 36-hole total. The Buccaneers will carry a four stroke-lead over host Elon. Murray State is third with a 614 total and is followed in the top-10 by Longwood (616), Cincinnati (622), Bethune-Cookman (622), James Madison (628), Xavier (636), Upstate (337) and Gardner-Webb (638).
Julie Miller was the low Spartan on the day and was the only Upstate player to shoot in the 70s. She turned in a 76 and owns a 36-hole total 155 to stand in a tie for 13th individually. Richelle Wedzik carded an 81 and is tied for 43rd with a 160 total. Jessica Wofford is three strokes back of Wedzik and will head into Sunday's final round with a 163 total and in a tie for 56th after turning in an 88 Saturday.
Richia Wedzik shot the third-lowest score for Upstate Saturday, finishing with an 82 and is in a tie for 61st with a 164 total. Audrey Church shot an 84 and is currently tied for 65th with a 165 36-hole total.
ETSU's Laura Jansone shot a 2-under 70 Saturday to take the lead heading into the final round with a 143 total. Elon's Tara McFadden is in second place three shots back of Jansone at 146.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude with the final round Sunday at the 5,947-yard, par-72 Byrd Course at the Sea Trail Resort.
