SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After a month off with no competition, the USC Upstate women's tennis team will get back on the courts this weekend at the UNF Hampton Inn 9A & Baymeadow Fall Tennis Invitational with five Upstate players hitting the courts. Junior Emilia Milovanovic, who has reached two singles finals and five doubles finals in her career, will look to lead the way again after reaching both her singles and doubles flights finals at the USC Upstate Fall Tournament. Cinthya Lazaro will also look to continue her strong play, as the Peruvian has posted a 23-5 career singles record.
The 2009 UNF Hampton Inn 9A & Baymeadows Fall Tennis Invitational features men's and women's singles flighted A/B/C draws, as well as men's and women's doubles flighted draws. The ITA-sanctioned tournament will feature approximately 30 teams from around the nation.

Junior Emilia Milovanovic posted a singles and doubles win with partner Cinthya Lazaro to reach the finals of the `B' singles and `A' doubles flights at the USC Upstate Fall Tournament on Sept. 12. Milovanovic posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Charleston Southern's Andrea Schutte in her first match of the morning before losing the final to Charleston Southern's Brooke Pletcher, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles play, Milovanovic and Lazaro started the afternoon with an 8-1 win over Heather Isbell and Heather Heusell of Presbyterian in the semifinals before falling to Charleston Southern's Andrea Schutte and Angie Torres, 8-4, in the finals.

The doubles teams of Emilia Milovanovic and Cinthya Lazaro (`A' flight) and Carolina Bello and Ana-Sofia Camberos (`B' flight) each reached the finals of the USC Upstate Fall Tournament, marking the eighth time in the D-I era a Spartan doubles team made the finals of a fall tournament.
Junior Emilia Milovanovic reached the fifth doubles finals of her career at the Upstate Fall Tournament, as the 5-9 Parisian did so in the `A' flight with Cinthya Lazaro. Milovanovic reached four finals with Anna Novo '09, winning three tournament titles.
Junior Emilia Milovanovic also reached the `B' flight of singles of the USC Upstate Fall Tournament, marking the second time in her career that she reached a tournament finals. She won the 2008 ETSU Blue flight title in her first tournament finals appearance.
In two years of Division I play, the Spartans have a record of 116-69 (.627) in tournament matches. In singles play, the Spartans are 78-49 (.614).
Junior Emilia Milovanovic enters the year looking to move up the career charts in singles, doubles and combined wins. Currently, she is tied for 11th in singles wins with 31, just 14 wins from the top 10. In doubles play, Milovanovic's 46 wins is seventh and she is 11th with 77 combined wins, just three from the top 10.
Sophomores Ana-Sofia Camberos and Cinthya Lazaro and junior Emilia Milovanovic were all members of the A-Sun All-Freshman Team. Camberos and Lazaro earned the honors in 2009 and Milovanovic earned it in 2008.
In two years of Division I play, Upstate tennis players have won six tournament titles. Senior Anna Novo accounted for three singles titles and three doubles titles with partner Emilia Milovanovic. Milovanovic also has a singles flight title to her credit.
The Spartans have lost two starters from the 2008-09 squad, including Anna Novo, who finished her career as the school record-holder in singles (90), doubles (71) and combined (161) wins. She is the only player in the school's history to earn four all-conference awards.
