
Spartans Wrap Up Successful Second Day At Upstate Fall Tournament

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Junior Emilia Milovanovic posted a singles and doubles win with partner Cinthya Lazaro to reach the finals of the `B' singles and `A' doubles flights at the USC Upstate Fall Tournament to highlight the action for the USC Upstate women's tennis team on Saturday at the Upstate Tennis Complex.
Milovanovic posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Charleston Southern's Andrea Schutte in her first match of the morning before losing the final to Charleston Southern's Brooke Pletcher, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles play, Milovanovic and Lazaro started the afternoon with an 8-1 win over Heather Isbell and Heather Heusell of Presbyterian in the semifinals before falling to Charleston Southern's Andrea Schutte and Angie Torres, 8-4, in the finals.
Lazaro, who started the day with a match in the `A' flight semifinals, fell to Charleston Southern's Marija Dzakovic, 6-3, 7-5. Dzakovic went on to win the `A' flight.
The other Upstate doubles team in action of sophomore Ana-Sofia Camberos and senior Carolina Bello also marched into the finals with a 9-7 semifinals win over Presbyterian's Daryl Thompson and Margeux Melby. In the finals, the duo narrowly fell to Presbyterian's Megan Davis and Paige Oelke, 9-7.
In other action, Wofford's Stephanie Cox won the `C' flight of singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Torres.
The Spartans will take nearly a month off before heading to the Elon Tournament from Oct. 10-12 in Elon, N.C.
