Tomball High School graduate Chris McCoy (Class of 2007) made history at the University of South Carolina Upstate, becoming the first men's soccer player to earn CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District 3 honors since the program advanced to the NCAA Division I level.
McCoy was selected to the first team in the university division, which includes all Division I programs. That also earned him a place on the Academic All-America ballot, the results of which were announced Nov. 17.
McCoy, a redshirt junior at USC Upstate, has a 3.93 GPA and is a biology/pre-med major. He has been an Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic selection three times.
