Spartans Raise Record Number Of Funds In 100-Inning Game

Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate softball team took to the field for its annual 100-Inning Game on Friday, Oct. 29, to help raise funding for the program. It was widely successful as the Spartans raised a record $7,080 for the 2011 season.
"I am blown away by the generosity and support shown to our softball team," said Upstate head coach Chris Hawkins, now in his 18th season at the helm of the program. "In tough economic times, it is important for our programs be able to successfully fundraise to bolster our operating budgets. The amount of support we have received through this one event has been tremendous and will go a long way in assisting us this year."
The softball teams were broken up into Green and Black teams for the 100-Inning game and, in the end, the Green team took the title by a score of 58-54.
