
Foerster Ranks Among Nation's Best

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate men's soccer midfielder Timo Foerster (Oberkirk, Germany/Hans Furler Gymnasium) finds his name ranked in the top 10 nationally in three different categories.
Foerster is tied for second in the NCAA in assists per game with 1.33. Foerster tallied three assists in the season opener at Georgia Southern (9/1) and another in the home opener against Presbyterian College (9/7). With a total of four assists, Foerster is tied for fourth nationally.
The junior also finds himself in the top 10 in points per game as he owns an average of 1.33, placing him in a tie for eighth. Joining Foerster in the tie for eighth is Hakeem King (Port of Spain, Trinidad/St. Mary's College). Aside from his 1.33 points per game average, King also ranks 66th-nationally with a goals per game average of 0.67 and sits in the top 100 in goals scored (2).
Four other Spartans find their names among the nation's leaders. John Collins (Cape Cod, Mass./Barnstable), John Kadane (Garland, Texas/John Paul II) and Maurice Beggs (Arima, Trinidad/Middle Georgia) are all tied for 22nd in points per game (0.67). Meanwhile, Jason McCabe (Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork) sits 86th-nationally with a saves per game average of 4.0.
Upstate will return to the pitch on Wednesday night when it travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs.
