
Women's Tennis Set for ITA Regional Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team will compete in its third and final tournament of the fall season as the Spartans travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the ITA Regional Championships.
The Spartans last hit the court at the Elon Fall Invitational (Oct. 7-9) and the duo of Hannah Al-Sakati and Julie Bell fell in the A-2 doubles final to Frida Jansaker and Bryn Khoury (Elon) by a score of 8-2.
Bell also reached the consolation finals in A-2 singles before losing to Cameron Chatman (North Carolina Central), 5-7, 2-6. In the B-1 Doubles consolation bracket, Maria Tonani and Ana-Sofia Camberos claimed an 8-5 victory over UNC Asheville's Amryn Soldier and Jenna Dodge.
Spartan Volleys…
• At the Elon Fall Inviational, Hannah Al-Sakati and Julie Bell dropped the A-2 doubles final to Elon's Frida Jansaker and Bryn Khoury (L, 2-8).
• All seven Spartans competed at the Upstate Fall Classic and Talia Rojas advance to the semifinals of the women's singles. Rojas and Isabel von Stryk reached the semifinals in women's doubles.
• Hannah Al-Sakati (Fr.), Julie Bell (Jr.), Lauren Byars (Fr.) and Isabel von Stryk (Fr.) join returners Ana-Sofia Camberos (Sr.), Talia Rojas (So.), Maria Tonani (Jr.) for the 2011-12 season.
• Dr. Oliver Trittenwein is in his second season at the helm of the Upstate tennis program.
