
Upstate Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Belmont

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team fell to Atlantic Sun Conference opponent Belmont 3-0 tonight at the Hodge Center but scores of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-20.
The Spartans were led by senior Morgan Thomas (Plantation, Fla.) with 10 kills, two blocks and one dig. Junior Emily Sanders (Sullivan, Ill.) tallied 26 assists, five digs and two kills, while junior Mindy Quimby (Keenesburg, Colo.) added eight kills and six digs. Sophomore Morgan Page (Woodstock, Ga.) led the Upstate defense with 13 digs.
Belmont was led by a double-double from Maggie Johnson with 13 kills and 10 digs. Hannah Miranda recorded 31 assists and six digs. Allison McCoy totaled seven kills and five blocks for the Bruin defense.
The Bruins hold an 8-0 advantage over the Spartans in the all-time series, including a 4-0 mark at the Hodge Center. Earlier this season, Upstate dropped a 3-0 decision at Belmont Oct. 1.
