Howie-In-The-Hills, Fla. – USC Upstate shot a second round 331 on Saturday and stands in second place heading into the final round of the Spring Fling Invitational at Mission Inn Golf Club.
Upstate entered the day in the lead by seven strokes over Boston College. However, B.C. shot a 304 on Saturday and vaulted into the lead with a 637 total. Upstate is second with a 657 total, while Bethune-Cookman remained in third place at 676, seven strokes behind the Spartans.
Amanda Hall (Tega Cay, S.C.) led Upstate on the day, posting a 78 despite hitting the ball out of bounds on the first hole. She played consistently throughout the round and carded the only round in the 70s for Upstate on the day. She is in third place.
"Amanda played solid golf, despite hitting her first shot of the day out of bounds," said Upstate assistant coach Sandy Halkett. "She really hung in there and didn't anything get to her."
Rachel Lewis (Llanishen, Wales) finished as the second-lowest Spartan on the day with an 82. She stands 11th heading into the final round. Johanna Ebenhag lowered her score by three strokes over Friday's round, carding an 85. Taylor Pleier (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished the day with an 86 and is tied for fifth, while Marissa Clontz also lowered her score significantly with an 87.
