Hall Continues to Lead Spartans at A-Sun Championship

DeLand, Fla. – USC Upstate remained in ninth place after the second round of the 2011 A-Sun Women's Golf Championship, while freshman Amanda Hall remained the highest Spartan on the leaderboard heading into the final round on Wednesday.
Hall, from Tega Cay, S.C., is tied for 22nd and is in position for a top 25 position in the championship being played at Victoria Hills Golf Club. She carded an 82 on Tuesday and owns a 155 total after 36 holes.
Upstate turned in a 332 on Tuesday, three strokes higher than the opening round on Monday. The Spartans are in ninth place heading into the final round on Wednesday, leading Lipscomb by three strokes.
Campbell began the day in second place, but shot a 303 to vault into the lead by two strokes over Kennesaw State. The Fighting Camels own a 600 total, while the Owls are at 602. Stetson and East Tennessee State are tied for third at 603 and are followed by Florida Gulf Coast (614), Merc er (615), Belmont (630), Jacksonville (630), Upstate (661) and Lipscomb (664).
Rachel Lewis (Llanishen, Wales) lowered her score by six strokes over Monday's opening round, shooting a 78 on Tuesday. It marked the low round of the day for Upstate. She is tied for 36th in the tournament with a 162 total. Johanna Ebenhag (Gothenberg, Sweden) is tied for 45th with a 171 total. Taylor Pleier (Spartanburg, S.C.) lowered her score by two shots over Monday's first round and is the fourth-lowest Spartan in the tournament, coming in at 47th with a 173 total. Marissa Clontz (Greenville, S.C.) is tied for 49th.
Stetson's Alex Buelow shot a 74 on Tuesday to move out of a tie for second to start the day to take the lead onto the tee in Wednesday's final round. She owns a 1-over-par 145 total.
