Final Round of Hall of Fame Classic Canceled

St. Augustine, Fla. – Due to rain and lightning in St. Augustine, the final round of the Hall of Fame Classic has been canceled, and the USC Upstate women's golf team finished ninth in the tournament.
The teams played 36 holes Monday and the final round was canceled on Tuesday, leaving the tournament at 36 holes. Upstate finished ninth with a 674 total, while freshman Rachel Lewis finished as the low Spartan and tied for 35th. Daytona State won the team championship with a 611 total.
Upstate will return to action and close out the season next week, making its sixth trip to Florida this season to take part in the A-Sun Championships April 11-13 at Victoria Hill Golf Club in DeLand.
From Monday...
Freshmen Rachel Lewis, Amanda Hall and Taylor Pleier all finished within a stroke of each other, but Upstate struggled to keep up the pace and stands ninth after the first two rounds of the Hall of Fame Classic on the Slammer & Squire Course at the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Lewis (Llanishen, Wales) turned in rounds of 83 and 82 for a 165 total and stands tied for 35th heading into Tuesday's final round. Hall (Tega Cay, S.C.), who has finished as the low Spartan in the previous two tournaments, turned in rounds of 83 and 83 and is 38th. Pleier (Spartanburg, S.C.) shot rounds of 84 and 83 and is tied for 39th.
Marissa Clontz (Greenville, S.C.) is 50th and Johanna Ebenhag (Gothenberg, Sweden) 51st. Daytona State's Mitsuki Katahira turned in rounds of 73 and 68 to take the individual lead.
Upstate opened the tournament with a 339 and carded a 335 in the second. The Spartans are ninth with a 674 total.
Behind the play of Katahira, Daytona State took the team lead with rounds of 308 and 303 for a 611 total. Stetson is second at 614 and is followed by Florida Atlantic (625), Cincinnati (631), Florida Gulf Coast (631), Wofford (635), Jacksonville (639), Charleston Southern (646) and Upstate (674).
