CLEMSON, S.C. – With a doubles title in hand following Saturday's play at the Clemson Duckworth Fall Classic, the Spartans cruise into championship Sunday and are set to play for three singles titles at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
The duo of Allison Beeler and Isabel von Stryk continued their winning way on Saturday in the Flight 6 "Bronze" draw as they battled past Tennessee Chattanooga's Flynn/Storie to capture the championship.
The Spartans were eyeing two other doubles championships, but came up short as Constanze Kuerten and Talia Rojas fell to Tennessee Chattanooga's Jones/Polk, while Julie Bell and Taylor Cohen fell to the Troy University combo of Munoz/Ramirez-Vega.
Upstate will battle for three more championships on Sunday as Beeler, Rojas and Bell all claimed straight victories in their respective draws Saturday. Beeler will go head-to-head with UTC's Kelsey Coots, Rojas will take on UTC's Clarie Mulyadi and Bell will oppose Emory University's Stephanie Loutsenko.
Cohen picked up a win of her own Saturday in the Flight 6 "Bronze" back draw and she will play for the consolation title against Mercer's Lucie Payrat.
The Duckworth Fall Classic hosted by Clemson University features 19 teams from around the southeast representing NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA.
