New Smyrna Beach, Fla. – USC Upstate's Amanda Hall continued to play solid golf and is tied for 15th at the A-Sun Championships at the Venetian Bay Golf Club Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans shot their second-straight 316 and is ninth heading into the final round Wednesday.
Hall (Tega Cay, S.C.) shot a 76 on Tuesday and owns a 151 total. She is tied for 15th with two other players. She is four strokes out of a top 10 finish heading into Wednesday's final round.
"Amanda continues to play well and led us again today," said Upstate head coach Todd Lawton.
Upstate shot a 316 on Tuesday, matching Monday's round. It is tied for the third-lowest round the Spartans have carded in its history playing in the championship event. Despite the effort, Upstate finds itself in ninth place.
In addition to Hall, two other Spartans finished with rounds in the 70's. Taylor Pleier (Spartanburg) turned in a 78 on the day. She is tied for 32nd with a 158 total. Brittany Lowe (Spartanburg) recorded a 79 and is tied for 35th at 160.
"It was nice to see three scores in the 70's, but we will need four tomorrow to move up," said Lawton. "We shot an identical score the last two days, but for some reason, we didn't like holes 10-13 as a team today. Going plus-12 on that stretch of holes is the difference of a couple spots on the leaderboard."
Marissa Clontz (Greenville, S.C.) shot an 83 and is 39th in the tournament with a 163 total. Kristi Goodman (Easley, S.C.) is 44th with a 175 total after a 189 in the second round.
Kennesaw State shot a 284 on Tuesday and is the tournament leader with a 578 total. The Owls are followed by ETSU (582), Mercer (587), Stetson (588), Jacksonville (620), Florida Gulf Coast (620), Belmont (629), Lipscomb (629) and Upstate (632).
ETSU's Gabriella Wahl owns the individual lead with a 140 total.
